Art Hive in partnership with members of South Tipperary Action Network (S.T.A.N.) have curated a creative space for all during Mental Health Week from October 7 to 12 at 27 -28 Mitchel St. (former Nest shop), Clonmel.

 

Art Hive is showing new artwork alongside a selection of award winning work called “On the Edge”, The Chair Project from T.A.S.K. - Training and Support Kilkenny.
The participatory artwork “The Wall of Hope Project” will be also be shown with inspirational images, poems, photos, stories and words of wisdom.

Avenue festival

The Avenue Festival is Waterford’s inaugural arts venue festival celebrating the wealth and diversity of arts spaces which define the character of the arts in the city. There's going to be a series of staggered openings throughout the week, ours will be on Saturday July 20th 5.00pm in the former Hive Studios, Bank Lane.

Dry felting workshop

Violeta Pserackaite creates bespoke felt and silk clothing for her own fashion line, wildwomenart. In this workshop she demonstrates the creative possibilities of nuno felting. She started her demonstration with one large piece on a table where folk could actively participate in adding to/amending the various fabrics.

Foundation and Aims

   Even though there's a lot of artist groups with similar titles we chose to name our group Art Hive. Most of us are based in Clonmel the name of which is derived from the anglicisation of the Irish name Cluain Meala meaning "honey meadow" or "honey vale". It may be seen as a tenuous connection but it feels appropriate to us.
Indeed one of our members, Dennis Ryan has grown up in a  beekeeping household.

The main aims of Art Hive are as follows:

To create innovating and exciting spaces (pop-up shows in unused retail units, festivals, parks etc) in which artists can collaborate and develop their professional art practice while also engaging with established galleries that support contemporary art.

To offer a working studio space for contemporary artists in Tipperary and support art making.

To foster creativity and well being for the general public through organised activities ie workshops, talks and open studio days, etc.

To explore possibilities for new or additional studio arrangements that enhance the aims of Art Hive and benefit its members including partnerships and collaborations with other organisations.
